Many Hands Make Beautiful Work.
We can always use extra hands on Grandfather Mountain to help out, and we greatly value everyone who contributes their time to take care of the mountain.
A volunteer program was introduced in 2014 to give our supporters a hands-on way to know the gratification that comes from introducing others to the wonders of Grandfather Mountain. Participants go through a training program and, depending on the role they train to perform, are asked to pledge as many as 50 hours of service during the year.
We always need hospitality volunteers to welcome our guests and answer questions about the facilities. Animal ambassadors are needed to interact with visitors and provide information on the wildlife in our habitats. We hope some of our volunteers will want to aid our environmental educators in program set-up and support or help our rangers lead guided hikes. Finally, we always need help with projects that require more physical ability like landscaping and trail maintenance.
